DIRECT AIR CAPTURE (DAC)
WHAT IS DIRECT AIR CAPTURE?
Direct Air Capture (DAC) is a way to remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere. Using fans, air is drawn into a facility, and CO₂ is separated into a pure gas. The CO₂ that is captured can then be safely and securely stored underground.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
The United Nations Climate Change projections show that the world is not on track to achieve the global climate goals set to avoid severe climate change impacts. In addition to reducing CO₂ emissions through switching to renewable energies and electric vehicles (EVs), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says that removing carbon dioxide through processes like direct air capture will be required to meet global and national climate objectives.²
By building DAC facilities around the world, we can start to remove CO₂ at a level that will help us achieve global climate goals.
